The Beginning …a very good place to start

So I have always had this little “essentials” kit I have carried with me. It contained all the important things like band aids, panadol, girly products and of course lip gloss. As a self proclaimed clutz these items got me through high school. Gradually I have added to my kit over the last few years, so that it until recently also included hair ties, fork and spoon, coinage and breath mints. It still didn’t seem enough, but I didn’t know what I was missing.

THEN (insert important sounding voice) I read the first novel of Jessica Rudd. Campaign Ruby follows Ruby on her adventures from England to Australia where she gets a job as an advisor to the opposition leader during an election. It’s a great book but the thing that stuck with me is what Ruby calls her Travelling Toolkit. By combinding many of the things on Ruby’s list with the contents of my kit and adding a few extras the Emergency Kit was born.

At current the emergency kit contains

  • hair brush
  • baby wipes
  • sewing kit - including safety pins, thread, needles, pins, scissors and buttons
  • breath mints
  • shoe insoles
  • dental floss
  • bandaids
  • panadol
  • perfume
  • hollywood double sided fashion tape
  • nail file
  • concealer
  • hair ties
  • anti-perspirant deodorant
  • whiteboard marker
  • bobby pins
  • blue pen
  • instant hand sanitiser
  • fork
  • spoon
  • permanent marker
  • nail clippers
  • lip gloss
  • stain remover
  • spare underwear
  • $3 in coin
  • and feminine products

On the suggestion from a friend’s mum (thanks Mrs Lake) I have decided to write this blog to share with the world the adventures that me and these contents have. They may seem mundane items but with my friends and I, I expect them to come in handy in some pretty funny and entertaining circumstances. So every time I use the contents of my Emergency Kit I will let you all know; no matter how mundane or exciting the story may be.

So keep your eyes peeled for the next installment and always BE PREPARED!!!
